Flagship Program

Pitha Pratijogita — The Annual Pitha Competition

Held each year at the OSA (Odia Society of the Americas) Convention, our flagship competition invites families across North America to bring their Traditional, Fusion, and Youth-made pithas to one shared table.

Hands-On Learning

Cultural Workshops

We host workshops where Odia elders teach traditional cooking, classical and folk dance, and spoken and written Odia — passing skills down directly rather than letting them fade with distance and time. A grandmother and grandchild can learn the same recipe side by side.

  • Traditional pitha-making and Odia cooking techniques
  • Folk and classical Odisha dance forms
  • Conversational Odia language sessions
  • Festival ritual and storytelling circles

Upcoming workshops are announced on the Events page.

For the Next Generation

Youth Heritage Program

Children growing up far from Odisha often experience their heritage in fragments. Through the Youth category, mentorship pairings with elders, and youth-led storytelling, we give the next generation a hands-on, joyful relationship with Odia identity — not a lecture about it.

Community Festival Gatherings

Beyond our flagship competition, we support and co-host community gatherings around major Odia festivals, helping local communities across North America celebrate together.

Nuakhai

Celebrating the harvest with community feasts and traditional rituals, even far from Odisha’s fields.

Raja Festival

Honoring the festival of womanhood and the arrival of monsoon with music, food, and gathering.

Durga Puja & Kumar Purnima

Supporting community pandals and celebrations that keep the rhythm of the Odia calendar alive abroad.
